Recipe of the Week: Blueberry Almond Antioxidant Smoothie

by Coach Miriam

Smoothies can be a great way to incorporate fresh produce into your day! This berry smoothie includes blueberries, an antioxidant powerhouse, along with nut butter for a small dose of protein and serving of heart-healthy fats! The optional addition of leafy greens boosts fiber and nutrient density.

Tip: Opting for 1/2 a frozen banana makes this smoothie creamier and using baby greens can help decrease any bitter flavor.

Blueberry Smoothie Ingredients:

  • ½ frozen banana
  • ½ cup frozen blueberries
  • Large handful of baby greens (optional)
  • ½ cup non-dairy milk (unsweetened)
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 teaspoon  cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon  ginger
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup (optional)

Directions:

Combine all ingredients and blend until smooth.
